Welcome to our new blog site for the Friends of Donnelly Village Inc.
We are a group of people, some who own cottages at Donnelly River Village and others who have close connections with the place, either through having lived there when it was a working timber mill town or have had family who lived and worked at 'the Donnelly'.
We are collecting the stories and photos of the people who lived and worked at Donnelly River or Wheatley (as it was known earlier), the Wheatley Forestry Settlement up to 1978 when the Mill closed. We will use these stories to develop historical trails around the village and to celebrate the history of this place.
We will post stories and details of events on this blog from time to time and if you would like to join or contribute materials to the Friends of Donnelly Village, please email us.
